Our Philosophy

LeVert Ventures invests in the following priorities:

  • Improving yield, plant health, and/or soil health

  • Reducing agricultural inputs

  • Improving farming efficiency and management

  • Assisting in delivering nutritious and accessible food in controlled environments

Karen LeVert, Managing Partner, is a trailblazer.

She is uniquely suited to managing her early stage AgTech fund, and not just because her surname “LeVert” literally means “the green” in French. Her eclectic background weaves together technology, finance, agriculture, and leadership, all of which inform her unique perspective as a leader in the emerging AgTech industry.

After a successful executive career in IT and Finance, including running a 500-person service center for a $4B insurance company, LeVert pursued her dream of becoming an entrepreneur. LeVert launching two accelerators to commercialize early-stage technologies from university research labs through the co-founding of Southeast TechInventures (optoelectronics applications) and later Ag TechInventures, where she commercialized early-stage technologies from university research labs for almost two decades.

She has served as a beacon in agriculture, actively mentoring leaders and serving on university and association boards. In 2022, this commitment to service culminated in her receiving the Demeter Award of Excellence from Women in Agribusiness. LeVert holds a BBA in Information Technology from Eastern Michigan University and an MBA from the University of Dayton.

LeVert has now come full circle with her mission to advance disruptive technologies in agriculture, with the launch of LeVert Ventures.

“I'm very excited about the evolution of technological progress in AgTech. We're talking about the oldest industry there is, agriculture. And the ability to automate and revolutionize something that's the oldest industry around is extraordinary.”
